FasTraxPOS customer, Munchies Fast Food Restaurant in Auburn NY, donates over 500 meals to first responders and healthcare workers through their “Feed The Frontline” campaign.
Over the duration of three weeks, Munchies plans on donating over 500 meals total to frontline workers in Auburn, NY.
On Friday, May 1st Munchies kicked off their campaign by donating 100 meals to the Auburn Community Hospital. They also started offering a 25% discount to first responders on Friday the 1st. They didn’t stop there though.
On Friday, May 8th Munchies donated over 300 meals to the Auburn Community Hospital, Auburn Police Station, Auburn Sherriff’s Office, Auburn Fire Companies, Auburn EMT, Auburn State Trooper Barracks, and the Auburn DCI/University Dialysis as a thank you for working tirelessly on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While the employees of Munchies were going over Friday’s game plan on Thursday evening the restaurant lost power. “We had no idea what we were going to do come Friday morning if the power didn’t come back on,” says Marketing Director Peini Spinazzola. Luckily, the power came back on just in time for the kitchen crews to start cooking! “It was such a relief. We were just getting ready to call all of the delivery locations to reschedule,” says Peini.
Munchies was joined by Krispy Krunchy Chicken(KKC) Business Development Manager, Bill Woodcock, who donated 100 meals to Feed The Frontline. Bill along with Vincent Westbrook and Marianne Hooiser, representatives from KKC, met the Munchies crew in Auburn to help prepare, package, and deliver the meals.
Before heading to the Auburn Community Hospital, the Munchies Delivery Van was met by Officer Vincent Carnicelli and Christine Gilfus, the Community Policing Sergeant for an escort to the hospital. After delivering to the hospital, Munchies dropped off meals to the Auburn Police Department who were very grateful for the donations and opportunity to be a part of the cause.
“We are so thankful for the support we’ve received from the Community of Auburn”, said Chris Fiorillo, Director of Business Development, “We really couldn’t have done it without them”.
Munchies also started a fundraiser on Facebook to give people who aren’t Auburn natives the opportunity to donate to the cause. The support that was received on Facebook was overwhelming, Munchies had reached their original goal of $300 within a couple of days and have now raised over $475. Munchies is matching every donation dollar for dollar and meal for meal.
“We want to donate at least 500 meals”, stated Doug Nolan, CEO of Munchies, “it feels great to give back to the frontline, that has risked their lives to help all of us.”
Munchies plans to continue their efforts next week, with 100+ more meal donations.
Judy Shutter, Manager at Munchies, is grateful for the opportunity to give back to those who have given the community so much. “We truly appreciate all you do for our community. Your courageous acts are truly inspirational to us all. Thank you”, said Judy.
Friday was a long day for everyone involved. Over 600 chicken tenders were fried, over 300 biscuits were cooked, and over 300 meals were delivered. The Munchies and KKC crews were exhausted, but their hearts were warm.
District Manager, Jimmy Corella stated that he is grateful for local first responders and is proud to be a part of giving back ”We are very grateful for the first responders and we are proud to be able to give back to those who have given us all so much”.
